Care & Maintenance

Please reach us at info@tuuciservice.com for additional information.

Tuuci® frames are constructed from durable, marine grade, weather resistant materials. These materials include fiberglass, armor-wall aluminum, Dura-TEAK composites, Aluma-TEAK aluminum, and sustainable hardwood. All fasteners (nuts, bolts, pulleys, cam cleats, etc.) are made of marine grade stainless steel to withstand the most corrosive environments.  Tuuci’s High Performance Textiles employ the most durable and state of the art marine grade fabrics and thread, including proven high performance, UV stable materials.  Proper care and maintenance are important to extend the serviceable life of all Tuuci products.

  • Prior to opening your parasol, ensure that the shade product is properly secured to a Tuuci anchor of adequate weight as specified by an authorized Tuuci dealer or rep. Regular checks to ensure the parasol is secured to the anchor are recommended.
  • Freshwater rinses, a minimum of once a week, will enhance the life and long-lasting beauty of your Tuuci shade equipment. Especially in oceanside environments, freshwater rinses are necessary to lengthen the life of your Tuuci product.
  • Weekly inspection of your Tuuci product is recommended. Inspect for loose screws, broken hardware, or other components. Tighten loose hardware and replace any broken components immediately to avoid further damage to your product.
  • When opening a Tuuci parasol, before raising the canopy, gently separate each individual rib six inches. Do not force the canopy if it does not rise easily. Check for obstructions or broken parts.
  • When closing a Tuuci parasol, pull the fabric out from between the struts to avoid pinching or damaging the canopy. To close, fold the fabric over itself and loosely secure with the tie strap. Do not overtighten the canopy tie as it can cause damage to the canopy. • Follow recommended cleaning procedures for all products.
  • Tuuci parasols should be closed when not in use, especially during inclement weather conditions or at night.
  • In extreme weather events, such as hurricanes or severe winter weather, Tuuci recommends storing product indoors whenever possible. Always store parasols in their upright position. It is recommended to remove fabrics first and store them separately to protect from damage. If available, use a Tuuci protective cover.

Although all Tuuci marine grade shade equipment is rigorously tested to withstand incredible forces of nature and winds up to 50MPH, Tuuci does not recommend or warranty the deployment or use of any collapsible shade equipment in wind conditions which exceed the following:

  • 25 MPH for Ocean Master MAX, Ocean Master M1, Bay Master collections
  • 45 MPH for the MAX F-1 and Ocean Master MEGA MAX, provided they are being used with a Tuuci in-ground anchoring system
  • Up to 100 MPH for Tuuci Solanox, depending on configuration

In extreme weather events such as hurricanes or severe winter weather, Tuuci recommends storing product indoors whenever possible. Always store parasols in their upright position. Clean above ground and visible parts of inground parasol shade anchors regularly to maintain appearance. A weekly freshwater rinse is recommended. To clean, gently wash with soap and water using a non-abrasive cloth. Check all bolts in shade anchor plate regularly to ensure that they remain fully tightened. Inspect weekly if parasol shade anchors are moved on a regular basis.

Do not use acidic or chlorine based cleaners on ACF or GVS anchors and connections. If product is near a highly chlorinated pool, the ocean, or coastal environment, routine maintenance should include a freshwater rinse around the anchor. Use a soft brush to clean any salt residue off the components of the anchor.

Do not roll Aluma-crete (Aluminum Shell, Concrete Filled) shade anchors on their side as damage to shell or finish will occur. Touch up shade anchors with Tuuci exterior paint as needed. Touch up paint can be ordered through an authorized Tuuci dealer. Wheeled parasol shade anchors are intended for use on even surfaces. Move shade anchors slowly and with caution on uneven surfaces. Do not use a wheeled parasol on stairways or over distances which exceed 50 feet, as damage to welded wheel tray may occur.

Tuuci High Performance Textiles used across parasols, cabanas, and furniture should be cleaned regularly before dirt accumulates and becomes embedded in the fabric. Fresh water rinses are recommended weekly. For parasols and fixed shade products, fabric can typically be cleaned while installed on the frame.

For light or general cleaning, use a sponge or soft brush to apply mild household dish soap and warm water to the fabric. Rinse thoroughly, then air dry. For stubborn stains or mildew, add one cup of bleach per gallon of soap and water. Apply directly to the stain, then use a sponge or soft brush to clean. Allow mixture to soak into fabric for up to 15 minutes, rinse thoroughly, and air dry. If necessary, repeat with additional bleach. Do not pressure wash canopies as this can cause damage to stitching and will void the warranty. For more stubborn or specific stains on seating fabrics, please refer to the Sunbrella website for guidance.

High Performance Textiles are heat sensitive. When washing or cleaning, do not subject to excessive heat as the fabric will shrink. Do not steam press or dry in electric or gas dryers. Always allow fabric to air dry.

When parasol canopies, cushions, or removable upholstery are taken down for seasonal storage, they should be cleaned, fully air dried, and stored in a dry, well-ventilated area. When products are not in use but remain outdoors, the use of a Tuuci Protective Cover is recommended to help extend the service life of both shade products and furniture.

Proper care and maintenance should prevent broken parasols. However, in the case that your parasol is in need of parts, all Tuuci products are repairable. TUUCI Service will coordinate the identification and ordering of all necessary parts.
